Mission Statement

The mission of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology (NJAO) is to represent and support ophthalmologic medicine and surgery in the state of New Jersey. The NJAO provides educational opportunities, resources for practice development and management, and actively participates in the creation and implementation of laws and regulations that affect the practice of medicine and ophthalmology.
 
Through these efforts, the NJAO helps its physician-members advocate for their patients’ complete eye care needs and overall medical needs in a safe, professional environment. As leaders of the eye care team, ophthalmologists ensure that the citizens of this great state receive the highest quality medical and surgical eye care services available.

NJAO Bylaws Purposes

The purposes for which the Academy is organized are:

• To promote the ophthalmologic welfare of the public
• To promote the scientific progress of ophthalmology
• To promote the skills and education of its members
• To conduct any or all lawful affairs for which corporations may be organized under the New Jersey Nonprofit Corporations Act which are not otherwise inconsistent with these By-laws.
